Hong Kong Super Sixes 2009

Along with test, ODI, t20 and pro40 there exists another form of cricket - the super sixes. Hong Kong organizes super sixes tournament every year between the top teams. The rules are modified with an inning of only 5 overs and each team containing just 6 players. Except wicketkeeper everyone bowls. Wides and no balls are counted 2 runs. Also, there is a provision of retiring after batsman reaches 31 runs. 8 teams participate in this tournament which is held on 31st October and 1st November.

The teams are divided into two groups. India has been placed in the Norhern hemispheres along with teams like England, Sri Lanka and rivals Pakistan. Hongkong, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia compromise the Southern hemisphere group.

Super 8 of Champions League T20 2009

The group stages of Champions league T20 2009 has completed and its now time for the super 8's. Two teams each from 4 groups have qualified for the super 8 in which the 8 teams are divided into two leagues. The teams which have qualified are : Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore from India, Cape Cobras and Eagles from South Africa, Somerset from England, New South Wales and Victoria from Australia and Trinidad and Tobago from West Indies.

The top two from each of the leagues will qualify for the semi-final of Champions League T20 2009.

The two leagues are:

League A: Eagles, Somerset, Trinidad and Tobago and New South Wales
League B: Royal Challengers Bangalore, Victoria, Cape Cobras and Delhi Daredevils

Mumbai to host 2011 Cricket world cup final , Mohali get semi-final

Finally, it has been confirmed that the final of ICC Cricket world cup 2011 will be held in Wankhede stadium in Mumabai. The tournament which is to be jointly orgainized by India, Sri Lanka and Banglandesh will feature 29 matches in India. It will be held in 8 venues in India. Mohali will host the semis while quarter-finals will be hosted in Ahmedabad.

With still the full fixtures and schedule of the cricket's biggest tournament still to come, the venues in India are now confirmed. Along with India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh too host the tournament. Bangladesh will be hosting the opening ceremony and other matches including a quarter final while Sri Lanka will feature one semi-final and other quarter final.

Here is the distribution of venues for Cricket World cup in India:
Mumbai - Final and two other matches
Mohali - Semi-final and two other matches.
Ahmedabad - Quarter-final and two other matches.

Australia vs New Zealand in final of ICC Champions trophy 2009

Its the final of ICC Champions trophy 2009 and two neighboring countries - Australia and New Zealand will battle for for the championship. Australia after being defeated in Ashes came back strongly in ODI series and now has once again showing signs of being world champion. New Zealand on other hand were considered underdogs but have proved themselves to be a great team.
