IPL 2010: Sangakkara replaces Yuvraj as Kings XI Punjab Captain

Posted: 18 Dec 2009 12:49 AM PST

IPL has another news on conflict between captain and coach. Kings XI Punjab coach Tom Moody is not satisfied with the captaincy of Yuvraj Singh and his attitude of ignoring team Management advices. Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara will now be leading the Punjab team in IPL 2010.

Kings XI Punjab has done average in previous IPL tournaments. It was a semi-finalist in the first edition while it came fifth in IPL 2009. Yuvraj Singh is the icon player form Kings XI Punjab. Yuvi is the fourth captain to be sacked from IPL teams. Earlier, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman were removed as captains from their respective teams. Ganguly will regain his captaincy for IPL 2010.

India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI 2009 - Live, Nagpur

Posted: 17 Dec 2009 04:07 AM PST

After a total batting pitch in Rajkot, its another favourable pitch for batsmen at Nagpur. You can expect score around 300 but don't expect another 400 as the pitch will offer something for the fast bowlers. Indian team is still to be without Yuvraj Singh. It may not be of great concern with great batting lineup and concern is on bowling. Sri Lanka too has problems with bowling as they would be without Murali and Fernando. Here are the date, time and venue of the 2nd ODI:

2nd ODI: India v Sri Lanka at Nagpur
Date: December 18 Time: 14:30 local, 09:00 GMT)

Talking about the team, India may have the same batting lineup. Sudeep Tyagi may be in to boost the bowling lineup. Praveen Kumar may be the one to be out. Sri Lanka may chose to bowl with Malinga if he is fit. Mendis may get a call as they require a genuine spinner. Batting is expected to go with same players.

India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI 2009 - Live, Rajkot

Posted: 14 Dec 2009 03:28 AM PST

After a dominating test series and balanced T20 series, India plays Sri Lanka for the 5-match ODI series. The 1st ODI is set to be played at Rajkot. The Indian morale is definitely high with batsmen in superb touch. Bowling may be a problem for India. Sri Lanka on other hand too is struggling a lot with bowling. Here is the date, time and other details of match:

1st ODI: India v Sri Lanka at Rajkot
December 15, Time: 09:00 local, 03:30 GMT

Indian team will have regular openers - Sehwag and Gambhir. Dravid, inspite of the superb test series will not be playing in ODIs. Tendulkar, Raina and Dhoni are definitely in. Virat Kohli is almost sure to play after some great batting against Aussies. Ravindra Jadeja and Harbajan are the other likely. Pace attack is likely to be consisting Praveen Kumar, Nehra and Zaheer. There seems to be no place for Ishant, Ojha and Pathan.

Sri Lanka will have Tharanga in the Team with regular members like Sangakkara, Dilshan, Jayasuriya and Jayawardene. Matthews is definitely in along with Murali. Another fast bowler may be Kulasekera. Remaining one spot may be for a batsman like Samaraweera. So, no place for Mendis after poor form in recent times.

No Pakistani players in IPL 2010

Posted: 07 Dec 2009 08:41 PM PST

The IPL commissioner, Lalit Modi has said that no players from Pakistan will feature in IPL 2010 as their boards have failed to obtain VISAs for them in given deadline. Cricinfo's article notes that the franchises will now have to look for the replacement of Pakistani players for IPL 2010.

5 players have been signed by IPL franchises for the third season which includes Umar Gul, Misbah-ul-Haq, Kamran Akmal, Abdul Razzaq and Sohail Tanvir. Players like Sohail Tanvir were brilliant in the first IPL season for their teams. As, Pakistan won the ICC World T20, Pakistan players were expected to be the center of attraction for different teams.
