Chasing a target of 172 runs, Chris Gayle, who is playing his 1st match for IPL 2011 and RCB got home with 11 balls and 9 wickets remaining. Gayle got 102* off 54 balls. Choosing to bowl first after winning the toss, Vettori's boys didn't bowl their best. JH Kallis started well with his 40 runs. Gambhir contributed 48 off 38 whereas Pathan's quick 46 off 24 balls made the scoreline to 171 runs. Chasing the target of over 8.5 runs per over, RCB started attacking from the start. Dishan and Gayle's opening stand was 123 runs from 12 overs. After Dishan was gone for 38, Gayle continued his aggressive approach. He got passed the ball for 10 4s and 7 6s.
