India vs South Africa - Highlights of 2nd test 2010

Posted: 14 Feb 2010 02:23 AM PST

South Africa won the toss in second and final test of series at Kolkata and batted first. It seemed as the match is following the 1st test as Hasim Amla and Petersen made tons for SA after loosing Smith early. But soon India came back and destroyed the South African batting. South Africa once at 218/1 were soon 261/9. At end of day 1 South Africa are 266/9. Zaheer and Harbajan Singh took 3 wickets each.

Day 1: India got the first wicket in 3rd over but two batsmen Petersen and Hasim Amla batted beautifully thereafter. Petersen got a hundred on debut while Amla made another century in the series. Apart from 1 wicket 1st session belonged to South Africa and they lost another one in the second session. Then came the jubilant 3rd session where Indian bowlers took wickets continuously. South Africa at one stage 218/1 soon became 261/9 at the end of day 1. Zaheer took 3 and 3 belonged to Harbajan. Mishra and Ishant Sharma got 1 wickets each. The match reminded the first test where Dale Steyn had swept the Indian middle order and the tailenders.

Afghanistan and Ireland qualify for the T20 World cup 2010

Posted: 14 Feb 2010 12:35 AM PST

Afghanistan and Ireland have qualified for the ICC World Twenty20 2010 in West Indies. The series is regarded as the World cup of T20 cricket and will begin on April 30. The two qualified teams will now feature in the series which also includes 9 test playing nations and Zimbabwe too. Both the teams reached the final of qualifier where Afghanistan finally clinched the trophy.

Having been brilliant in Cricket World cup 2007, Ireland has obtained lots of experience in world cricket. But its a great news for the Afghanistan who are new to cricket. Within few years of entering cricket they missed to qualify for the World cup 2011 in last stage but this new achievement has certainly shown that they can make a lot of progress in coming years.

You can find the complete schedule of T20 World cup 2010.
