Preview: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 5th ODI Colombo 18 June 2012

Posted: 17 Jun 2012 01:00 PM PDT

Pakistan team who started the series quite well have failed to live in the ODI series. Pakistan batsman really led down their team and looking at the performance in the last ODI one can’t expect much of fight in the final ODI of the series. Pakistan lost 7 wicket for 13 runs in the last ODI. They really need to get over it to perform in the final ODI.

Sri Lankan teams seems to be getting back in form. Their bowlers are performing quite well and batsman are scoring runs as well. The balance of power has shifted from spin to pace in the Sri Lankan bowling line-up, and the hosts’ seamers have shown there’s sufficient ammunition to defend a competitive score. Sri Lanka are a team on a high; Pakistan, with some sloppy fielding and misfiring batting, not so.

Pakistan really need to work on their batting, bowling and fielding in the final ODI. This is their last chance to draw the series before the start of test series. Pakistan have a good bowling attack but their batsman have not been able to match up. The positive sign for Pakistan is the form of Azhar Ali, but will look for better efforts and responsibility from Umar Akmal and co in the lower order to avoid collapses like the one in the previous ODI. The bowling, as always, has the variations and the balance to strike big on any given day.

Alistair Campbell says its not that cold in Harare. Around 22 degrees Celsius and a bit of a breeze. The pitch will be interesting though, remember it is winter here in Southern Africa.

Worth remembering that Zimbabwe and South Africa are in the same group in the World T20 while Bangladesh are grouped with New Zealand and Pakistan.
