CLT20 Qualifier: Auckland vs Hampshire Post Match Presentation

Posted: 10 Oct 2012 08:24 AM PDT

Azhar Mahmood: Not a good start, yesterday first ball went for a six, but I varied my pace and I will take today’s figures. Great bunch of guys we have and good to be in the main tournament. Working on a few things and hopefully we will do well in the tournament.

Man of the Match is Azhar Mahmood for his 5-fer and unbeaten 55.

Hopkins: ‘The boys must have been a bit surprised with that (on winning the toss). The boys bowled well, we made a quick adjustment. It was a good toss to win, little bit sticky and difficult to bat on at the beginning. I thought Guptill and Vincent gave us a good start, then finished off by Azhar who is a privilege playing for us. Playing the game last night certainly helped, there was a calmness after the win and the boys just carried on from there.’

Mascarenhas: ‘It is a shame when the wicket dictates the whole game, the toss of the coin was very important. Carbs played very nicely, chance to get up to 140 at one stage, but we lost wickets at regular intervals. We were hoping that Auckland lose yesterday and we will get a double chance. They played well, good luck to them.’

CLT20 Qualifier: Auckland elects to bat vs Hampshire

Toss: Auckland have won the toss and elected to field

Mascarenhas: ‘We hope Maxwell and Afridi do the job – they are explosive players and can take the game away from the opposition. We would’ve bowled first as well. Very exciting as it is a do or die game for us.’

Hopkins: ‘We are gonna bowl today. I think it is still a bit damp at the moment and looks like a good track to chase on. It is an unchanged team again today and hopefully Mills will do the job again.’

Pitch Report: The colour of the pitch is a bit darker. There are some patches of grass. It is a hard wicket. The team that wins the toss might opt to bowl first.

Teams:
Auckland (Playing XI): Martin Guptill, Lou Vincent, Azhar Mahmood, Anaru Kitchen, Colin de Grandhomme, Colin Munro, Gareth Hopkins(w/c), Ronnie Hira, Kyle Mills, Andre Adams, Michael Bates

Hampshire (Playing XI): James Vince, Michael Carberry, Jimmy Adams, Shahid Afridi, Sean Ervine, Glenn Maxwell, Liam Dawson, Dimitri Mascarenhas(c), Chris Wood, Kabir Ali, Michael Bates(w)
