Faulkner: ‘Very grateful to Rajasthan for the opportunity. Good group of people and very happy to be here. This wicket was a lot different than the one in Pune so have to bowl a lot different. We bowled exceptionally well. The energy on the field was great from all of us’

Faulkner is the Man of the Match

Rahul Dravid: ‘Quite nervous at the end but great composure from Samson and Rahane. A bit too close for comfort though. The first 6 overs makes a lot of difference, the bowlers who bowled on top did a terrific. We don’t really interfere too much with the groundsmen. We want to prepare good sporting wickets. Every pitch need not be 180+ kind of track, even 140 type games can be close. Rahane did well to stay till the end and take us home along with Samson. Long way to go still. We’re happy with the start but we know that there are bigger challenges ahead.’

Adam Gilchrist: ‘Batting was a problem. We let 7 deliveries slip at the end of the innings. We’ve been bowled out twice in a row in 20 overs now. It’s not acceptable, myself included. We have to do some damage control. Apart from the first 3-4 overs, we were good with the ball. They fought well with the ball and I can’t be critical of their effort.’

Gambhir, who is also the Man of the Match: A very good wicket to bat on. Morgan and Kallis were fantastic. We were aiming 160 odd but to get 180 was very good. Bisla did well as well, he took pressure off me. Morgan has been an incredible batsman. We have to give him time in the middle. Hopefully he can continue like this through the tournament. We needed someone to complement Sunil Narine, Senanayake did just that. We got the right pick. When you go into a T20 game you have to have clear thinking. You can’t think much about technique and stuff so it was good to do well. ‘

Sangakkara: ‘We brought it back pretty well after the first 6 overs with the ball but lost momentum towards the end. Morgan and Kallis played really well and we were outplayed. Around 160 would have been great. We were never in the chase. White, Parthiv and Perera did decently well but we have to improve. We had to get White in as early as possible with the field up. We have enough fire-power but we have to score. We have good hitting power in White, Perera and Ashish Reddy. The rest of us have to play the supporting roles. We’re still in a good position but we have to improve.’

Kallis: It’s a tiring job but on days like today, it’s very rewarding, especially when it helps the team wins. On this type of wicket, playing the big shots isn’t always going to be easy. We have to play proper cricketing shots as well. Nice to get a win after a couple of losses. My body is holding on, the mind is still strong and I’m enjoying my cricket.

Gambhir: Nice to be back here. Pleasure to play here, the crowd will be great. In such a big tournament, we have to keep improving in all areas. It’s a hard game played by 22 men, you go there to win. Things happen in the heat of the moment but it’s important to not take it off the field. It looks a good wicket. Senanayake plays in place of McLaren.

Sangakkara: It was nice to get on the road and win one. We played well against Bangalore but Kohli took it away from us there. I’m happy with my form but need to kick on and convert. It’s all about contributions from everyone. Fantastic venue – it’s one of my favourite grounds in the world. We would have batted as well, but we have to restrict them. It will slow down as the game progresses. Karan Sharma comes in for Anand Rajan.

Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab Live Streams IPL 2013

Rajasthan Royals after a surprise defeat by Pune Warriors in last match will be looking to get back to winning momentum when they take on Kings XI Punjab. Skipper Rahul Dravid has been the most consistent for them so far along with Ajinkya Rahane who has been contributing in 30s every now n then. It was Rajasthan bowling which failed in last match and now will be looking to regroup. Punjab has played two matches with winning the first game and then were thrashed by Chennai by 10 wickets.
