Gony: ‘The pitch was good so I had fun batting. My coach asked me to hit srtaight and I just wanted to keep it simple and do that. I don’t think about the place in my team. In whatever chances I get, I’ll have to perform. The boundary can be at any distance, but I’ll try to hit it with whatever power I have’

Gony is the Man of the Match

Gilchrist: ‘Needed to do something after my batting effort so it was nice to hold on to one behind the wickets (about the last over save) But it was a terrific effort from all the guys. Maybe Gony has to bat higher in the order after that game! We don’t have a great record here so it was nice to get a win at home.’

Gambhir, who looks distraught: ‘Me and Morgan should have finished the game. But 42 balls 52, we should have got it. This is T20 though. That’s the format, you are never out of the game and never in control. We need to move on. I’ve always believed that Senanayake and Narine are world class spinners and they have a lot of variations up on their sleeve.’

Toss: Bangalore have won the toss and elected to field

Kohli: ‘We are going to bowl first. The track will not change much during the game. The freshness will remain. We don’t want too much presusre on Chris (Gayle). Andrew McDonald comes in for Dan Christian. Unadkat comes in for Murali Kartik. We are looking very good as a unit. The side is feeling calm in he dressing room. I’m very proud of the way the boys are playing. still early days. We can’t keep thinking about the game gone by. You cannot get an atmosphere better than the one here in the Indian T20 league. ‘

Mahela: ‘We would have bowled first as well. We need to believe in ourselves. Nehra is back in. Rohrer comes in for Botha. It’s not been a great start. We have to work on a few things to improve. We have to keep continuing what we do. We are making sure they guys are fresh. There have been crucial situations like in the first six overs and we have handled tough situations badly. ‘

Toss: Kolkata have won the toss and elected to field

Gambhir: ‘We had a long travel but the guys are keen and up for it. We’re feeling good after the last game, it was an all-round performance. The pitch looks good, hopefully our spinners come into play. We’ve got 2 spinners, hopefully they can extract something out of it. Laxmi Shukla misses out, he has a sore knee. Das comes in place of him.’

Gilchrist: ‘We’ve bowled well but our batting group hasn’t been able to give the bowlers enough runs to defend. We’ve lost too many wickets too early in pursuit of quick runs. We’re thrilled with the group of youngsters that we’ve got. We have to bat better than we did in the previous games. Ryan Harris misses out, Gony comes in. David Miller comes in for Satish.’
