Batsman Yuvraj Singh has been named in India’s 15-man squad for the World Twenty20, which gets underway in Sri Lanka in September.

Yuvraj has not represented his country since November 2011, when a rare form of cancer sidelined him for eight months.

Chemotherapy in America, however, has afforded the 30-year-old a return to the game.

The 15-man party also features a return for spinner Harbhajan Singh, who was dropped from the Twenty20 International fold last year, and leg-spinner Piyush Chawla, who hasn’t played T20I cricket since June 2010.

The uncapped Lakshmipathy Balaji, meanwhile, is one of four seamers.

The Indians have been pooled with England and Afghanistan in Group A and their first fixture of the 12-team tournament is against the Afghans in Colombo on 19 September.

Squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Manoj Tiwary, Irfan Pathan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Zaheer Khan, Lakshmipathy Balaji, Piyush Chawla, Harbhajan Singh, Ashok Dinda.

PCB offers short term bowling coach job to Wasim Akram

Posted: 09 Aug 2012 11:11 PM PDT

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday made a formal short-term bowling coach job offer to former captain Wasim Akram for their national side

The former left-arm pacer has not rejected the proposal, but has requested PCB to work around his busy schedule if he accepts the offer, Cricket 365 reported.

“I am willing to coach because I would like to work with youngsters and train them,” said Akram.

“I have always said that I am available to work with young bowlers in Pakistan, but due to my busy schedule I can’t do this full time.

“But whenever I am in Pakistan, I am available to coach and groom the youngsters. There is no dearth of talent in Pakistan, it only has to be scouted and groomed properly," Akram expressed.

Akram is currently in Australia for commentating in the upcoming Under-19 World Cup and will also be in South Africa later this year for the Champions League T20.

An official from the board confirmed that Akram has given positive response on the offer.

“The PCB is always very keen to utilise his services and this is a positive gesture by him,” he said.

“The board has established a contact with him but nothing has been worked out due to his availability. Though he has assured to find a window from his busy schedule in near future.”
