Malinga: We also wanted to bowl first. We need to go out and put the runs on the board. We have a good bowling line-up. There are three changes in the team. Wahab Riaz is not playing. It is because of the wicket.

India Under-19 vs Zimbabwe Under-19 Highlights 2012. Cricket Highlights of Zimbabwe U19 vs India U19, ICC Under 19 World Cup 2012 played on 14 August 2012. Match 15 India U19 vs Zimbabwe U19 Highlights, Ind U19 vs Zim U19 Under-19s World Cup 2012 Highlights, 14th August 2012.

In the ICC U-19 World Cup, India beat Zimbabwe by 63 runs at Queensland, Australia. Batting first, the Indians put a score of 261 on the scoreboard inspired by skipper Unmukt Chand’s 78 of 117 balls. Chand was well accompanied in the opening pair by right-handed Prashant Chopra who contributed 57 of 94 balls. Chasing the 250 plus total, the inexperienced Zimbabwean batting line up surrendered to the Indian bowlers and was wrapped up within 198. Despite Malcolm Lake’s hard earned ton, Zimbabwe collapsed helplessly before the brilliance of Kamal Passi, the right-arm pacer who not only got six wickets for just 23 runs, but also bagged the man of the match award.

South Africa will look to seal series with win at Lord’s: Gary Kirsten

Posted: 14 Aug 2012 06:38 AM PDT

South Africa, having won the first Test at Kennington Oval, and drew the second Test at Leeds. They now need a draw at Lord’s to seal the series against England but coach Gary Kirsten indicated that Protease will look to out to seal the series with a victory.

“We like to believe if we get our stuff right and we get our preparation right and we execute in the right way, we are a difficult team to beat,” he said.

“We need to be humble every hour of the Test match to make sure we set a strong foundation to give us a good chance of getting the success we want in the Test match.

“We will go out there and play our brand of aggressive cricket because we believe that is key to our success.”

The Lord’s outfield has been scarred by the recent Olympic archery tournament that was held at the home of cricket, with large sections of the turf having been relaid but the former India World Cup winning coach said the best teams adopt to all conditions.

“If you want to be the best cricket team in the world you have to adapt to all conditions,” Kirsten said.

“Whatever is out there we have got to deal with, we have got to handle it. No excuses.”

The former opener said, South Africa are keen to become the best cricket team in the world in all forms of the game.

“Way back in August last year we put a peg in the ground and said we wanted to become the best cricket team in the world in all forms of the game,” Kirsten said.

“Some people say we are not sure about the rankings, does it hold any water? But deep down every team aspires to it. They like to know they are number one in those rankings. We certainly take it with importance.”

Kirsten said England’s decision to include the inexperienced Jonny Bairstow ahead of Pietersen, who scored a brilliant 149 in the Headingley Test, would not change South Africa’s approach.

“We will focus on our preparation and the work that we do. We always respect the opposition,” Kirsten said.

“We understand we are playing against quality opposition. We will never under-estimate any team, we will never go into any Test match complacent and arrive thinking the job is done.

“We will do the preparation necessary to look at the opposition and what they have got in their team and how we can exploit certain areas.

“We don’t focus heavily on individuals, we look at their team make-up and we look at ways we can exploit. It is no different to what we would do in a normal Test match,” Kirsten was quoted saying by Telegraph.co.uk

Pakistan drop Younis Khan, Mohammad Sami from ODI squad for Australia series

Posted: 14 Aug 2012 01:34 AM PDT

Pakistan on Monday dropped seasoned batsman Younis Khan from a 16-man squad for a three one-day match series against Australia, starting in the United Arab Emirates later this month.

The matches will be played on August 28 in Sharjah, August 31 in Abu Dhabi and again in Sharjah on September 3.

The teams will also play three Twenty20s, for which a team was announced last month.

Khan, 34, had been a lean form during a five-match away one-day series against Sri Lanka last month, scoring only 10 runs in four innings.

He has so far played 245 one-days for Pakistan, scoring 6,824 runs, but his last hundred came four years ago. Also out of the squad is ace paceman Umar Gul, who managed just four wickets in four matches against Sri Lanka.

Chief selector Iqbal Qasim said both Younis and Gul, a 28-year-old veteran of 111 one-day matches, have been rested.

“If you look at the last series against Sri Lanka, both Younis and Gul were struggling with form so we have rested them for the two tough series ahead, the first against India in December and then against South Africa early next year,” Qasim told AFP.

Qasim denied Younis’s career was over.

“By no means (is it) over, he can stage a comeback after rest,” said Qasim.

Wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal, already recalled for the Twenty20 series against Australia, also bagged a place in the one-day team.

“We observed during the Sri Lanka series that our batting struggled, especially the lower order, so we included Kamran who gives solidity to the batting,” said Qasim.

Opener Nasir Jamshed, withdrawn from the team for Sri Lanka due to a finger injury, will also make a return, as will all-rounder Anwar Ali.

Ali, 23, has played just one Twenty20 for Pakistan, in 2008.

The three Twenty20s against Australia will be played on September 5, 7 and 10 — all in Dubai.

Squad: Misbahul Haq (captain), Nasir Jamshed, Mohammad Hafeez, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, Umar Akmal, Kamran Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Sohail Tanveer, Aizaz Cheema, Saeed Ajmal, Imran Farhat, Shoaib Malik, Abdur Rehman, Junaid Khan, Anwar Ali.

Kevin Pietersen not likely to return soon: Michael Vaughan

Posted: 14 Aug 2012 12:23 AM PDT

Former England captain Michael Vaughan believes it will take a "long time" for middle-order mainstay Kevin Pietersen to make a comeback in the England dressing room.

England on Sunday axed Pietersen over the allegations that he sent controversial text messages to South Africa cricketers, which consisted filthy word for captain Andrew Strauss and criticising coach Andy Flower.

Vaughan said, "If it’s true that he sent those texts, it will take a long time for him to be allowed back,” Vaughan said.

“It’s been a mad, but also a very sad week for the England cricket team. There are no real winners, but one very big loser and that’s Kevin Pietersen.

“I don’t think he’s getting the right advice. I don’t know who is advising him but in my eyes they are not doing the right job for Kevin. We don’t know what has been going on behind the scene for the last few months, because the text messages could only be a tipping point," Vaughan told the BBC.

“There’s no way he could have arrived in that dressing room at Lord’s on Tuesday morning. It will take time, but he will get another chance. I hope he does.”

The 32-year-old, who had scored century in the drawn second Test against South Africa at Headingley, followed that bombshell by claiming he was ready to walk away from the sport due to what he perceived as problems in the England squad that he said “made it hard being me”.

The saga took a bizarre twist when Pietersen posted a video on YouTube on Saturday in which he claimed he was now ready to play in all forms of international cricket having previously opted out of limited overs action.

“I am hugely disappointed that the ECB have decided not to select me. To say I am gutted is an understatement,” Pietersen said in a statement.

“This entire episode has been demoralising for me and my family. However, none of this constitutes the end of my career as an international cricketer.

“The video I released was my way to bring closure to the issues I had at that time.

“I had an emotional time at Headingley but I stand by every word I said in the video.”
