Live Cricket Streaming: India vs Sri Lanka 5th ODI at Pallekele

Posted: 03 Aug 2012 12:30 PM PDT

India and Sri Lanka have played a lot of cricket this year and India have been on top most of the time. India have already clinched the series by beating Sri Lanka in the last ODI and will now be looking to wrap up series on a high. Indian batsman have played well against the Sri Lankan bowlers and given them a tough fight throughout the series.

For Sri Lanka batting has been the key problem where the team lacked to perform. Kumar Sangakkara was the only batsman who performed but unfortunately he is already out of the series due to injury. Tillakaratne Dilshan and Mahela Jayawardene failed to perform so far. Can they stop India from making it 4-1 in the final ODI of the series?

Demand of live streaming of cricket matches is on a rise and its also difficult to find good working links as well. Most of the links are redirected to other domains while some make you click hundreds of links without taking you to the streaming page.

Openers gave England solid start as South Africa post 419

Posted: 03 Aug 2012 12:26 PM PDT

England made a solid start to their reply after South Africa stretched their first innings to 419 on the second day of the second Test at Headingley on Friday. England were 48 for no wicket when bad light ended play with 22 overs still due to be bowled.

England captain Andrew Strauss and his opening partner Alastair Cook batted confidently, aided by some wayward bowling by the South Africans. South Africa’s innings lasted until shortly before the tea break. Alviro Petersen made a career best 182 as South Africa ground out an imposing total, casting doubt on England’s decision to pick an all-seam attack and send them in.After Petersen’s marathon innings ended in mid-afternoon, JP Duminy hit an unbeaten 48 as the last three wickets added 66 runs.

There was irony for England when part-time offspinner Kevin Pietersen took his side’s first wicket of the day after Petersen and Jacques Rudolph had batted most of the morning in a stubborn sixth wicket stand of 59. England left out front-line spinner Graeme Swann, opting for four specialist seam bowlers. But the quick men could not make a breakthrough despite bowling accurately in overcast conditions.

Finally, England captain Andrew Strauss tossed the ball to Pietersen, whose second ball spun sharply past the bat as the left-handed Rudolph stretched forward defensively. Wicketkeeper Matt Prior whipped off the bails and television umpire Asad Rauf ruled that the batsman had not got part of his foot behind the line in time.

James Anderson and Stuart Broad sent down six successive maidens at the start of the day. In the fifth over Petersen was given out leg before wicket to Anderson by umpire Steve Davis without adding to his overnight score of 124 but, for the second time in his innings, he called for a review and was reprieved when replays showed the ball would have missed his leg stump.

Petersen went past his previous Test best of 156 against New Zealand in Wellington in March before he was caught behind off Stuart Broad after batting for 530 minutes. He faced 365 balls and hit 23 fours. Broad finished as England’s most successful bowler, taking 3 for 96. As they had in their innings win in the first Test at the Oval, South Africa gave the new ball to Morne Morkel in an attempt to extend Strauss’ struggles against the tall fast bowler. Morkel produced one rearing delivery that hit Strauss on the glove but was mainly off target.

Vernon Philander also seldom made the batsmen play and captain Graeme Smith brought Dale Steyn into the attack after four overs and Philander switched ends but without a significant increase in menace. Strauss hit sweetly timed off-drives for four off Philander and Steyn in successive overs. The score moved quickly to 47 off 13 overs before Jacques Kallis and an improved Morkel bowled a better line and length, conceding only one run in five overs before play was called off.

Preview: India vs Sri Lanka 5th ODI Pallekele #IndvSL 2012

With the series already under their belt, a confident India will look to continue their dominating run and complete a 4-1 drubbing over an inconsistent Sri Lanka in the final ODI on Saturday.

India have been consistent and have dominated the five-match series right from the start, barring the second ODI, which they lost by nine wickets, after coming into the tournament following a prolonged break.

The visitors took an unassailable 3-1 lead after winning the fourth one-dayer by six wickets in their last outing and Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s men will now aim to end the series on a high.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, never bargained to be 1-3 down with just one to play in the one-day series and Mahela Jayawardene’s men will hope to salvage some pride by making it 2-3 rather than facing the 1-4 ignominy.

Jayawardene was honest in his assessment that the hosts were simply not good enough against the world champions and blamed their inconsistency for the sorry state.

The hosts came to Colombo with series level at 1-1. Given the consistent home favour in the history of games at the Premadasa, the expectations were high from the home team to press ahead the home advantage.

But it was not to be. Rather, it was Dhoni’s men who created history at Premadasa by comfortably winning the third and fourth ODI by five wickets and six wickets.

For Sri Lanka, it was not just inconsistency but more of an under-performance which has never been seen in a home series of such high stake.

Apart from Kumar Sangakkara’s brilliant 133 in the first game at Hambantota, Sri Lankans have been below par. Take the case of Tillakaratne Dilshan.

The opener has failed to fire at the top with only one 50 in the four outings. His partner Tharanga was slightly better getting two 50s.

Jayawardene himself has been patchy. His decision to drop down the order to allow the young Dinesh Chandimal to take charge has not proved to be a wise option and the Sri Lankan captain would do well to return to his familiar position to see if he could inspire the team tomorrow.

The middle-order of Angelo Mathews and Chandimal have produced only flashes of brilliance while Thisara Perera’s all-round efforts were not at par with his performance against Pakistan.

Sri Lanka also have been suffering from a series of injury worries. Losing in-form Sangakkara after the third ODI following his fracture in the little finger of his right hand has affected their cause.

The fast bowling unit also looks bare with as many as six pacers being out through injuries. Lasith Malinga has been leading the attack but he has accounted for only five wickets in four games, while giving away runs at a premium.

Jayawardene now wants a decent performance from his team in the last ODI at Kandy and then his focus will be on the availability of resources ahead of a busy schedule.

“I need to speak to the management and see how best we can do that. I know a couple of guys are really struggling with fatigue. We will see what options are and try and motivate them to go out and take up the challenge,” he said.

“Kandy is going to be a different challenge altogether.

We need to try and put up a decent performance together.”

Roach, Best stars on Day 1 as West Indies dominate in 2nd Test

Posted: 02 Aug 2012 11:10 PM PDT

Kemar Roach and Tino Best’s inspiring fast bowling helped West Indies to bundle out New Zealand for 260 in their first innings on Day 1 of the second Test.

Roach claimed four wickets, while Best and Narsingh Deonarine chipped in with two scalps each. For the visitors Martin Guptill was the top scorer with 71.

Earlier, Guptill and Ross Taylor both hit half centuries as New Zealand recovered from a shaky start to reach 152 for 3 at tea. Opener Guptill struck an unbeaten 62, his third straight fifty, while Taylor contributed an enterprising 60.

The pair shared a third wicket stand of 103 that rescued the Kiwis after they slipped to 11 for 2 inside the first half hour, losing Brendon McCullum and BJ Watling.

Best, who along with Roach set the innings back after the hosts won the toss, broke the blossoming stand midway through the second session.

Taylor tried to cut one that angled into him, cramping him for room, and edged through to wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin.
But Guptill found another solid ally in Kane Williamson, who went to the break undefeated on 17.The West Indies should have had further success five minutes before tea but Narsingh Deonarine put down a sharp, head-high return catch off Williamson.

Alviro Petersen hits ton, South Africa 262/5 at stumps on Day 1 against England

Posted: 02 Aug 2012 10:49 PM PDT

Alviro Petersen hit his fourth Test century at Headingley on Thursday to steer South Africa to 262 for 5 at stumps on day one of the second Test against England.

Petersen’s unbeaten 124 came from 266 balls with 16 fours, while Graeme Smith hit 52, from 93 balls with four fours.

Stuart Broad, who took 55 for 1, bowled AB de Villiers and Steven Finn (78 for 1) bowled Dale Steyn shortly before stumps to keep England in contention.

James Anderson, with 42 for 1 and Tim Bresnan with 68 for 1, also took wickets.

A major talking point came in the 12th over of the day when Smith edged to Andrew Strauss at first slip, only for the ball to be ruled dead because paceman Steve Finn had dislodged the bails on his follow through.

England captain Strauss had an animated discussion with umpire Steve Davis, but law 23.4, section 6 of cricket’s rules says: “An umpire shall call and signal dead ball when the striker is distracted by any noise or movement while receiving.”
Smith was on 6 when he was reprieved by the dead ball decision. Finn, who has collided with the stumps throughout his career, had previously knocked the bails off twice during the morning session.

Finn’s inclusion in England’s team was unexpected. In a major surprise, England left out Graeme Swann, making it the first Test the hosts have played without a specialist spin bowler since 2003 — also against South Africa at Headingley.

Although there was only partial cloud cover, England chose to bowl after winning the toss, a gamble that initially appeared to backfire.

After 45 fruitless minutes, Anderson finally drew an edge when Petersen was on 29. But Alastair Cook, who was fielding in Swann’s usual position of second slip, dropped an easy chance.

Smith clearly wasn’t distracted when Finn knocked into the stumps for a fifth time in the 20th over because he pulled the ball to the deep midwicket fence, only for Davis to again call dead ball and negate the boundary.

Smith was denied another boundary in identical fashion in the first over after lunch.

England finally ended a spell of 10 hours, 3 minutes without a wicket — since Smith fell on the third day of the first Test at The Oval — when South Africa’s captain chipped a leg-side delivery from Bresnan to Ian Bell.

Hashim Amla got an inside edge to the sixth ball he faced, from Broad, but it just eluded the stumps and diving wicketkeeper Matt Prior to fly to the boundary for four.

Amla’s drove the next delivery stylishly for four, but he was bizarrely run out for 9 after a misfield. Amla’s drive squirted through Kevin Pietersen at cover, but Bresnan retrieved the ball near the boundary and Amla failed to make his ground when looking for a third run.

Jacques Kallis looked dangerous. But when he fell to Anderson for 19 in the 50th over to a low catch by Cook, the Test was delicately poised at 157 for 3, with the three batsmen who tormented England at The Oval all back in the dressing room.
After a 73-minute rain delay the evening session began in attritional fashion with England drastically reducing the run rate.

Petersen brought up his century from 215 balls as South Africa gradually regained control, though in the first over with the new ball Anderson — also fielding in Swann’s customary second slip position — dropped de Villiers off Broad.
Petersen was given out lbw to Finn when he was on 119 but he successfully referred the call.

England’s luck finally turned when de Villiers played on to Broad for 47 in the 83rd over and Finn clean bowled the nightwatchman Steyn for 0 in the 85th to drag England back into contention.
