Suresh Raina first to cross 2000 runs in IPL

Posted: 30 Apr 2012 01:18 PM PDT

Chennai Super Kings’ Suresh Raina became the first-ever batsman to cross 2000 runs in the Indian Premier League on Monday. Raina achieved the feat during the course of his 44-run knock against Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Prior to this match, the left-handed Raina had 1865 runs from 64 matches at an average of 35.86. Raina, who top-scored for his team on Monday with a 34-ball 44, has been playing in the cash-rich Twenty20 league since its inaugural edition in 2008.

During his stay at the wicket, Raina entertained the partisan crowd with some fluent hits to the fence. In all, the left-handed batsman struck four fours and a six. Of all his boundaries, the six Raina scored off Brett Lee over long-off was the most noteworthy.

He was eventually dismissed at six short of his half-century by Jacques Kallis as Chennai were restricted to a modest 139 for five. KKR won the match by five wickets.

Gambhir leads Kolkata to win over Chennai: IPL 2012

Posted: 30 Apr 2012 01:13 PM PDT

Skipper Gautam Gambhir struck his fourth half-century of the season as Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in the Indian Premier League.

Chasing 140 for victory, the Knight Riders finished the task with two balls to spare, with Gambhir leading the way with a 52-ball 63 at the M A Chidambaram Stadium. Gambhir struck six fours and a six.

Needing six runs in the last over bowled by Ravichandran Ashwin, newcomer Debabrata Das (11 not out) pulled it off for KKR by hitting a boundary after Yusuf Pathan got out to an irresponsible shot.

The Knight Riders lost opener Brendon McCullum early, but Gambhir held his ground and, in the company of in-form Jacques Kallis (26 off 31 balls), stabilised the innings.

Introduced in the third over, Ashwin foxed McCullum with the carrom-ball as the batsman scooped it to mid-off.

But success was hard to come by thereafter for the Super Kings as Gambhir and Kallis added 70 runs for the second wicket, the partnership ending after the latter edged Dwayne Bravo to CSK skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

But before that, as they were not chasing an imposing total, both the batsmen seemed content to play the ball on merit, but the loose ones were never really wasted.

The Super Kings bowlers were never allowed to settle into any sort of rhythm by Gambhir and Kallis who displayed good footwork on what was not the ideal track for batting.

After Kallis heaved Ashwin over deep square-leg for a six, Gambhir went down the pitch to deposit Shadab Jakati over long-on for a maximum.

However, Dhoni’s move to bring back Bravo to bowl the 13th over, paid immediate dividend as that resulted in the dismissal of Kallis.

Chennai tried to apply pressure on KKR, but Gambhir was equal to the task as he took his team to within sniffing distance of victory.

Earlier, Kallis led a disciplined bowling effort with two important wickets as the Knight Riders restricted the Super Kings to a modest total.

Kallis took the wickets of Suresh Raina, who top-scored for the hosts with a 34-ball 44, and West Indian hard-hitter Dwayne Bravo, to finish with 2/21.

Dhoni remained unbeaten on 34 off 30 balls.

Opting to bat after winning the toss, Super Kings were never allowed to get off the hook by the KKR bowlers.

The Super Kings were off to an inauspicious start, losing big-hitting opener Faf du Plessis in the second over of the match to Brett Lee, who induced an edge that was taken by wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum.

A few overs later, dangerman Michael Hussey was run out by the Lee-McCullum combo, to leave the hosts in some sort of trouble at 32 for two in the fifth over.

Raina, along with Bravo, tried to take the Super Kings to a comfortable situation, but the West Indian holed out to long-on fielder Iqbal Abdulla off the bowling of Kallis after being involved in a 42-run stand for the third wicket.

With his team struggling to dominate the opposition, Dhoni strode to the crease, and responded to the situation by running a few quick singles and hitting the occasional boundaries.

Having taken the wicket of Bravo, Kallis struck once again, sending back Raina. After a fumble, Yusuf Pathan managed to hold on to the catch at midwicket after Raina played it high in the air.

During his stay at the wicket, Raina entertained the partisan crowd with some fluent hits to the fence. (PTI)

Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Chennai Super Kings Post Match Presentation IPL 2012

Posted: 30 Apr 2012 12:23 PM PDT

Gambhir: The way Chennai fought, lot of credit goes to them. Our bowlers did a good job. We have got a lot of quality in our side. We need to be good in all three departments. Still many games to go. My MOM goes to Deba Das.

Gambhir is the MOM, but he decides to give it to Deba Das

Dhoni: Hussey did well. The surface does not suit us. This wicket is not letting us play the big strokes. The spinning department needs to bowl better. The fast bowlers have to contribute, which is what isn’t happening with our side. Eary breakthroughs are necessary. Wickets can’t be tailor made for the home side. The wicket gets better in the second half.

Dhoni: Well of course, we do need a win here. We don’t want to lag behind, because when you look at the table the top four teams are quite close to each other on points. You want to be with most of the sides on the table because if you lag behind too much, then it could be difficult to come back. Michael Hussey comes back in today so Kulasekara misses out and Yo Mahesh replaces Saha. It looks like a good wicket, we will look to put up some runs on the board. I think Hussey is brilliant, the body language and attitude he has on the field is really good. He really lifts the fielding.

Gambhir: Whatever has happened in the past is the past and I don’t think that we can’t win today, we have the quality to do it. We are pretty fortunate that Sunil Narine plays for us because we certainly don’t want to bat against him. I bat wherever the team needs me most, if I feel the team benefits if I open, then I will. We have a good side and we have chased well earlier so we are pretty happy with what we do. The side is unchanged for today.

IPL 2012 Preview: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Chennai Super Kings, 30 April 2012

Posted: 29 Apr 2012 04:30 PM PDT

A cracker of a contest is on the cards when in-form Kolkata Knight Riders take on faltering defending champions Chennai Super Kings in their 10th preliminary league match of the IPL on Monday.

Both the teams are meeting this season for the first time and the Gautam Gambhir-led KKR hold the advantage after having won five of their nine matches so far.

Comparatively, Chennai are faltering because of their batting woes and lost by seven runs to tournament laggards Kings XI Punjab on Saturday.

Gambhir has been leading from the front and his batting this season in particular has been spectacular. The manner in which he tamed the Royal Challengers Bangalore at home yesterday with a 51-ball 93 was intimidating sight for any opposition bowler.

Same cannot be said about CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has been under the mat for months now. His personal contribution with the bat for both the national side and now for the Super Kings has been below par.

Dhoni has failed miserably so far aggregating 132 in eight innings with a high of 40 as compared to Gambhir’s 302 from eight innings with a highest of 93.

Yesterday’s loss to Kings XI Punjab was a classic example of the hosts failure to overcome pressure despite openers Faf Du Plessies and S Badrinath setting the base scoring at over nine in the first six overs.

With the wicket being slow and low, it is not possible for KKR to repeat their feat of posting high totals but the in-form batsmen under Gambhir have proven records to their credit to stitch good partnerships.

In bowling, KKR have a fairly good combination starting from Lakshmipathy Balaji, who knows the conditions in Chepauk like the back of his hands, and Yusuf Pathan and Sunil Naraine have the experience to turn the tide in their team’s favour under local conditions. (PTI)

Teams:

KKR(probable): Brendon McCullum(w), Gautam Gambhir(c), Jacques Kallis, Manoj Tiwary, Yusuf Pathan, Debabrata Das, Rajat Bhatia, Laxmi Shukla, Sunil Narine, Brett Lee, Iqbal Abdulla

CSK(probable): Subramanium Badrinath, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (c & wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Wriddhiman Saha, Ravichandran Ashwin, Nuwan Kulasekara, Shadab Jakati, Albie Morkel.

Mumbai Indians beat Deccan Chargers by 5 wickets: IPL 2012

Posted: 29 Apr 2012 12:31 PM PDT

After some brilliant bowling displays, Rohit Sharma played a patient 42 runs knock to help Mumbai Indians beat Deccan Chargers by 5 wickets in the return leg game of the Indian Premier League at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

Ambati Rayudu (19 not out) held his nerves and hit couple of boundaries in the end to take the hosts past the modest target of 101 runs in 18.1 overs.

Ashish Reddy dismissed James Franklin (13) in the seventeenth over to reduce Mumbai to 81/5 but it turned out to be too little too late.

Part-time spinner JP Duminy claimed the important wicket of Rohit Sharma (42) – who was leading the run chase – in the 14th over to break the Mumbai’s momentum. Sharma hit a six and four boundaries in his 48-ball patient knock as he stitched valuable 30-run stand with Franklin for the fourth wicket to lead the run chase.

Mumbai lost their three top-order batsmen inside nine overs to make the small chase exciting.

Deccan speedster Dale Steyn struck again to get rid of Dinesh Karthik (2) in the ninth over to give Chargers a glimpse of hopes in the match. Steyn’s fiery bowling helped Deccan reduce Mumbai to 45/3 in 8.3 overs.

Mumbai lost openers Sachin Tendulkar (14) and Richard Levi (0) inside six overs as the hosts managed 31/2 in mandatory powerplay overs.

Young pacer Veer Pratap Singh struck in the sixth over to take the Little Mater’s wicket and reduced Mumbai to 31/2 in 5.5 overs. Tendulkar hit just one four in his run-a-ball innings.

Steyn struck with the very first ball to give Chargers a perfect start against Mumbai.

Electing to field, Harbhajan Singh (2-13) lead a discipline Mumbai attack to bundle out Deccan for meagre 100 runs.

Lasith Malinga (4-16) was the wrecker-in-chief as Mumbai dominated the match from start to end. Deccan failed to bat out their allotted 20 overs as they were bowled out in 18.4 overs.

Munaf Patel dismissed Ashish Reddy (10) to further dent Daccan run charge as Chargers lost seven wickets for 82 in 15.2 overs.

James Franklin struck twice in the 13th over to dismiss Bharat Chipli (1) and Dan Christian (5). Franklin’s exploits put Mumbai in total control of the match as Deccan lost six wickets for 66 in 13 overs.

Skipper Harbhajan Singh removed resilient Shikhar Dhawan (29) in the twelfth over to increase the Chargers’ misery. Dhawan hit three boundaries in his patient 32-ball knock.

After a decent start, Deccan lost three wickets in quick succession to hand over the initiatives to the hosts Mumbai.

Lasith Malinga dismisses Cameron White for first ball duck in the ninth over to reduce Deccan to 44/3 in 8.1 overs.

Harbhajan got rid of Ishank Jaggi (2) in the eighth over to dent the Deccan innings.

Deccan managed only 38/1 in their first six powerplay overs and completed fifty runs in 9.3 overs after losing three wickets.

Pacer RP Singh gave Mumbai their first breakthrough when he dismissed Parthiv Patel (19) in the sixth over to break the 37-run opening stand for Chargers between Patel and Shikhar Dhawan.

Patel hit a six and a four in his 18 balls innings.

Earlier, Mumbai skipper Harbhajan won the toss and decided to field against Deccan in the 40th match of the tournament.

Skipper Kumar Sangakkara has been left out from the playing XI and Cameron White is leading the Deccan side for the match. “Sangakkara and Lehmann thought the XI they selected today was the best XI,” said stand-in captain White.

Mumbai brought back Richard Levi and Munaf Patel for the game.

Chargers have made several changes in the squad, their four overseas players for the match are White, Dale Steyn, JP Duminy and Daniel Christian.

Deccan Chargers Vs Mumbai Indians Post Match Presentation IPL 2012

Posted: 29 Apr 2012 12:12 PM PDT

Harbhajan: I don’t think we played any better than the Deccan Chargers, both teams batted poorly. Definitely not a T20 kind of wicket. When I saw the wicket today I was like, Oh! What is it now? We really don’t know what to expect from the wicket. Hopefully, we’ll get them to prepare a good T20 wicket.

White: We didn’t play well enough, Mumbai did. The difference was about 15 to 20 runs. I thought I’d rather bowl Steyn before the match goes away from our hands. He bowled brilliantly. So, that was the plan, to get the most out of him before the match goes out of our hands.

Dale Steyn is the Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling performance.

Dale Steyn: Would have been happier with a win tonight, but it’s ok. I apologize for the celebrations after taking Levi’s wicket, I am never going to do that again. Half of my match fee should be taken away (says jokingly). We were 20-30 runs short. We have been a great side, we haven’t crossed the line, but we’ll try to win the remainder of the games.

Delhi Daredevils snatch 1 run win over Rajasthan Royals: IPL 2012

Posted: 29 Apr 2012 09:16 AM PDT

Ajinkya Rahane’s superb 84-run knock went in vain as Delhi Daredevils pulled off a dramatic one-run win against Rajasthan Royals to open up a three-point lead at the top of the Indian Premier League on Sunday.

Chasing a challenging 153 to win, Rajasthan were so close to win as they needed just 15 runs off the last two overs but Morne Morkel and Umesh Yadav snatched the win for Delhi out of the jaws of defeat by conceding just 13 runs.

Morkel conceded just three runs in the penultimate over and also dismissed Brad Hodge (22) to turn the tide in the favour of his side.

Rajasthan needed two runs off the final ball after Rahane smashed Yadav for a six and took two in the fourth and fifth balls. However Rahane missed the last ball and Owais Shah was run-out while attempting a single.

The unpredictability of the Twenty20 format was on display at its best as Rajasthan were running away with an upset win after the openers — Rahane and his skipper Rahul Dravid (40) — raised a 99-run stand for the first wicket.

Rahane and Hodge then added 42 for the second wicket but it turned out to be a case of close yet so far, for Rajasthan.

Delhi had put up a challenging 152 for six after Virender Sehwag smashed a 63 off 39 balls at the top and Yogesh Nagar (27 off 20) provided the fireworks in the end.

With his knock Sehwag became the only batsman in the history of IPL to score four consecutive half-centuries.

Rajasthan’s bowling was tight and except the last over when they leaked 20 overs, they made the formidable Delhi batting line-up to work hard for runs.

It was a difficult wicket for stroke-making but Rahane and Dravid read the track well and responded to the challenge sensibly. They kept finding boundaries but never attempted shots which risked losing wicket.

However, despite all the hard work, victory slipped out of their hands as they finished 151 for three.

Even when Ajit Agarkar’s athletic catch, offered by Dravid, in the deep off Irfan Pathan broke Rajasthan’s opening wicket stand, the visitors were favourties to win.

Delhi are now leading the points table with 14 points, followed by Kolkata Knight Riders (11), Chennai Super Kings (9) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (9).

Earlier, Pankaj Singh (2/25) and Amit Singh (2/41) shared four Delhi wickets between them while Kevon Cooper did a fantastic job by conceding just 19 runs in his four overs.

Sehwag was his usual attacking self as he blasted 63 off 39 balls after electing to bat, but the ball was not coming on to the bat and other Delhi batsmen struggled to score quickly.

Apart from Sehwag Yogesh Nagar (27) and Ross Taylor (25) contributed to the total.

It was Nagar, who took Delhi past the 150-run mark when he hammered Amit Singh for two sixes and a four in the final over the innings before holing out in the penultimate ball.

Rajasthan bowler kept Delhi batsmen under pressure right from the start although Mahela Jayawardene had started off the Delhi innings with a four off Ankeet Chavan.

But the Sri Lankan recruit did not last long as he hit a full pitched delivery from Pankaj right into the hands of Brad Hogg.

Pietersen, who followed Jayawardene looked to carry on from where he left against Mumbai Indians, driving Chavan through covers to fetch his first boundary.

Chavan cut short his stay when he had the Briton caught by Dravid in slip region.

Sehwag on the other end was in sublime form as he cut and drove Royals’ bowlers with ease. After flicking Pankaj through the mid-wicket to collect his first boundary, the Delhi-dasher never looked back raising his half-century in just 33 balls.

After a subdued start Sehwag opened up, dispatching Amit through fine-leg before lofting Kevon Cooper over mid-off for a six. His knock had eight fours and two sixes.

With Sehwag falling at a crucial juncture of the game, it was left to Taylor and Yogesh to carry the Daredevils to a respectable total. However, the Kiwi was bowled around his legs while trying to glance Pankaj, bringing an end to a rather painstaking effort of 25 of 35 balls.

Naman Ojha started off in style by hitting a huge straight six off Hogg but could not do much for his side.

Nagar though made sure that Delhi have enough runs to fight as he clobbered Amit for two sixes and a four before Irfan Pathan hit the last ball for a four.

Toss: Mumbai Indians have won the toss and elected to field

Teams:
Mumbai Indians (Playing XI): Richard Levi, Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik(w), Ambati Rayudu, James Franklin, Robin Peterson, Harbhajan Singh(c), Lasith Malinga, Munaf Patel, RP Singh

Deccan Chargers (Playing XI): Parthiv Patel(w), Shikhar Dhawan, Cameron White(c), Daniel Christian, Jean-Paul Duminy, Ishank Jaggi, Bharat Chipli, Ashish Reddy, Amit Mishra, Dale Steyn, Veer Pratap Singh

Harbhajan: We have to make a move now. So far we have not played upto our potential. Now during the last stages of the tourney we have to improve. The second part of the tournament is important and next few games will be crucial for all the teams. It’s important to keep winning now. We will bowl first as the pitch has more grass on it. Munaf has come back into the side and Levi also makes a comeback. They played well in the last game and we will stick to our basics in this game.

White: Sanga and Lehman decided this will be the right combination for these conditions. Last match was a good experience, hopefully it’s a different day and we will look to continue our winning ways. This track is good for batting and we hope to put up a good show. I also would have bowled first as the grass would have helped the faster bowlers. This game is all about momentum. Mumbai are a good side and as we are batting first, we will look to put up a good total. Lots of changes today in the side. Our foreign players are – Steyn, White, Christian and Duminy.

Sehwag: Today my bowlers did a fantastic job, especially Morne Morkel. Even I thought we will lose this game. 14 in two overs with 8 wickets in hand, it was very difficult. Special over from Morne did the trick. I am just loving this format, I am just looking to bat for 14-15 overs.

Dravid: I think we had them on the mat, we left it a little too late. We gave a chance to one of their bowlers to bowl one great over and Morne did that. It is disappointing. I am proud of my boys, Delhi has a lot of great players, loved the way the boys fought today. These things keep happening. We need to pick ourselves up. It is fantastic to watch Rahane bat, credit to all the hard work he has put in. He is doing what the selectors wanted him to, score tons and tons of runs.

Virender Sehwag is the Man of the Match

Sehwag: I know that if I can stay till the 14th or the 15th over I can create some damage. I always look to see the ball and hit it according to the merit. We would like to bat first and put runs on board. We are going in with the same team.

Dravid: We had a couple of good practice sessions, the break has been good and we would like to bounce back. We have a few young kids, we need to be patient with them. We’ve looked at some areas where we can improve and there’s no better test than this one. Delhi is a top of the table team and it will be good to bring them down. They’ve got a lot of big names, the young guys are excited. Ankeet Chauhan, Amit Singh come back, there is one more change in the middle order, don’t quite remember.

IPL 2012 Preview: Mumbai Indians Vs Deccan Chargers, 29 April 2012

Posted: 28 Apr 2012 05:30 PM PDT

The inconsistent Mumbai Indians would be keen to rediscover their winning touch when they clash with bottom-placed Deccan Chargers in the return leg game of the Indian Premier League at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

After a five-game losing streak, the Chargers earned their first points against Kolkata Knight Riders in a washed-out game and then scored their first win of the season against Pune Warriors in the latter’s backyard.

MI’s performance has waxed and waned from the opening encounter against defending champions Chennai Super Kings and they go into the game against the Chargers with a 50:50 win-loss record, their last defeat occurring last night against the Delhi Daredevils.

Another defeat would dent their chances of advancing to the play-off stage of the competition considerably.

Chargers, on the other hand, would be keen to set right the last-ball defeat suffered against MI at Visakhapatnam on April 9 when Rohit Sharma carried the latter across the finish line with an unbeaten 73.

With just eight points from as man games, the task has become more challenging for MI to make it to the last four.

Some bad luck, in the form of injuries to key players, has also set MI back. When Sachin Tendulkar regained fitness to finally take the field after recovering from the finger injury sustained in the tournament opener, the team’s bowling spearhead, Lasith Malinga, was laid low by a sore back.

Malinga returned to the playing eleven at Delhi’s Ferozshah Kotla but the side were without James Franklin in the same match after the New Zealander had cracked a match-winning 79 against Kings XI here on April 22.

The Tendulkar-Blizzard opening combination was the sixth one tried out by MI in eight games, an indication of the struggle the team has gone through to put up a settled opening pair on the field.

The latest worry for MI is the shoulder injury sustained by their main all rounder Kieron Pollard who fell on the right shoulder while fielding and looked in pain after hitting a huge six when batting later.

The bowling form of Munaf Patel and skipper Harbhajan Singh is also a major worry for MI. Harbhajan has taken just one wicket in eight games.

Tendulkar returned to IPL after missing four games, but has looked a bit rusty. The team’s unsettled opening pair has hurt the batting order which has been wobbly on all but three occasions.

A huge effort would be needed to put MI’s stuttering campaign back on track, though the return to form of middle order batsman Ambati Rayudu as well as wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik, is a big relief for them.

Despite their defeat against the Daredevils, MI would fancy their chances against the struggling Chargers who finally broke their winless streak with an 18-run victory over Pune Warriors. That the victory was obtained in the absence of key South African fast bowler Dale Steyn, who was rested and replaced by compatriot Juan Theron, was heartening for the Chargers.

The worrying factor for Chargers is the lack of form of captain Kumar Sangakkara who has mustered only 83 runs from five games. He’s another important batsman who needs to fire for the Chargers to entertain hopes of downing MI in their backyard.(PTI)

Teams:

MI (probables) : Aiden Blizzard, Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik(wk), Kieron Pollard, Ambati Rayudu, Robin Peterson, Harbhajan Singh(c), Lasith Malinga, Rahul Shukla, RP Singh

DC (probables) : Kumar Sangakkara (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Parthiv Patel (wk), Jean-Paul Duminy, Cameron White, Ishank Jaggi, Ankit Sharma, Ashish Reddy, Amit Mishra, Juan Theron, Manpreet Gony.

IPL 2012 Preview: Delhi Daredevils Vs Rajasthan Royals, 29 April 2012

Posted: 28 Apr 2012 03:30 PM PDT

Riding high on confidence after registering back-to-back wins, table toppers Delhi Daredevils would look to maintain their ascendance when they take on a dangerous Rajasthan Royals in an Indian Premier League match on Sunday.

Led by dashing Virender Sehwag, the Daredevils have so far looked to be the most balanced side in the tournament, but the team needs to guard against complacency to stamp their authority at the top of the points table.

With six wins and two loses out of eight matches so far in the tournament, the Delhi outfit is leading the team standings with 12 points.

In their last two games, the Daredevils registered comprehensive victories over Pune Warriors and Mumbai Indians.

While the Daredevils thrashed Pune by eight wickets in an away game on Tuesday, Sehwag’s men recorded a convincing 37-run win over Mumbai in their last game at home last night.

The Daredevils have been pretty consistent with both bat and ball so far in the tournament.

Sehwag is leading the side from the front with some fiery knocks at the top, while Kevin Pietersen has been a consistent run-getter for Delhi in the middle overs.

And with Mahela Jayawardene also announcing his return to form with a strokeful half century against Mumbai last night, it would take a special effort from Royals to derail Delhi’s campaign.

On the batting front, the only concern for the Daredevils will be the lack of time spend by its middle-order at the centre. Kiwi import Ross Taylor hasn’t got a decent hit yet, while the likes of Naman Ojha and Yogesh Nagar have so far not been required to shed much of their sweat.

The Daredevils bowlers have also complemented their batsmen well by managing to keep the oppositions in check, with wrecker-in-chief Morne Morkel, holding the pack well.

Although the Royals have looked good with the bat, their bowling department lacks the sting, with captain Rahul Dravid admitting that bowling at the death has been a problem area for the team.

The Royals will thus bank on their batsmen to seize the initiative against Sehwag’s men. However, lack of runs from the middle order remains a primary concern for Dravid.

With Dravid, Ajinkya Rahane and Owais Shah scoring consistently, the Royals boast of a formidable top-order, but the likes of Australian Brad Hodge and local talent Ashok Maneria have been inconsistent with the bat in the middle overs.

The form of wicketkeeper Shreevats Goswami is also under the scanner.

Apart from Kevon Cooper and Siddharth Trivedi, no one has looked consistent with the ball for the Royals.

While the West Indian has scalped 10 wickets from five matches so far, Trivedi has managed to keep a restrain on the scoring rate.

The team has particularly leaked runs towards the end of an innings, which might prompt Dravid to bring in Australian Shaun Tait to the mix. (PTI)
