How to adapt to Penguin and Panda

Posted: 20 Dec 2012 02:23 AM PST

pandaIf you have paid attention to the blogs and forums after these updates, you may come to the conclusion that search engine optimization is dead, and that webmasters are purely at the mercy of Google to rank in the search engine results. While the game has definitely changed as a result of these two updates, search engine optimization is far from dead.

The updates simply mean that you are going to have to work harder to be able to rank in the search engines. You can no longer subscribe to a network, throw up a bunch of short posts to get links, and then dominate the competition. You're going to have to actually get out there and get some quality links from quality sites and write some quality content aimed at real people. You'll have to do some guest blogging. You need to participate in social networking sites, and get people interested in your content that way. You are going to have to spend more time crafting high-quality content for your site so that people will want to link to it on their own. Overall, you're going to have to do more work in order to rank in the search engines in most niches.

Google is going to be paying attention to your reputation on the Web. If your site can get links from other sites with a lot of authority, you still have a good chance of being able to rank highly in the search engines. If you can create content that people love to read, and share with others, you're going to be able to rank. If you make fresh content, and constantly update your site, this will improve your chances of success when it comes to ranking. This means that you're going to need to do a little bit more than you're used to. For some, this may seem like a very tall task because they were already spending a lot of time on their sites. While it may take a lot of work, the rewards can be well worth it when you successfully receive the traffic you're after. Click here for and in depth look at the new SEO tactics.
