Live Streams India vs England 2nd ODI Kochi 2013

England continued their good run from test series into the ODI series. Alistair Cook looks to be in good form and continues to score runs for the team in ODI as well. Ian Bell opening the innings in 1st ODi clearly sent a strong signal in England squad. He has proved himself an looks in superb form. Kevin Pietersen and Eoin Morgan handles the middle order. Morgan have been a great finisher for England recently. Another positive for ENgland was Samit Patel, his cameo in the last ODI took the game away from India. England bowling too looked far better than India. They have more variations then Indian bowlers. James Tredwell has been exceptional in 1st ODI and picking wickets on a batting surface will definitely boost his confidence.

For India, they still have lot work on there batting and bowling. Indian batsman haven’t been in the best of the forms recently. Gambhir and Rahane did provide a good start in 1st ODi but they failed to convert big. Virat Kohli has been out of form from quite some times and that is a major point of concern for India. Cheteshwar Pujara should be given chance in place of Kohli since he has been in super form in the Ranji matches. Coming to bowling, Ishant Sharma will most likely be dropped after giving away 86 runs in his spell. Ashok Dinda too wasn’t impressive. One of the two should make way for Shami Ahmed who made a impressive debut against Pakistan.

South Africa thrash New Zealand by an innings and 193 runs in 2nd Test, wins series 2-0 #SAvsNZ

Posted: 14 Jan 2013 03:43 AM PST

South Africa thrash New Zealand by an innings and 193 runs in 2nd Test, wins series 2-0South Africa crushed New Zealand by an innings and 193 runs on Monday after the tourists were bowled out for 211 in their second innings before lunch on the fourth day of the second Test.

Dale Steyn took three wickets and Morne Morkel claimed two in the morning session at St. George’s Park as New Zealand slumped to a 2-0 series whitewash against the top-ranked Test team. Continue reading below

BJ Watling resisted for 63, his second half-century of the match, and Dean Brownlie made 53, but New Zealand was heavily outclassed throughout the Test and the series.

Three South Africans made centuries in their first-innings 525 for 8 declared, and Steyn then led with eight wickets in the match as New Zealand tumbled to 121 and 211 and an even bigger loss than the first test in Cape Town – where South Africa won by an innings and 27 runs.

“They were very professional and very big wins for us,” South Africa skipper Graeme Smith said. “I think things are slotting in nicely. There’s a mature bunch of guys who understand what it’s like to be successful at this level.”

Having dug in to reach stumps on Sunday at 157 for 4, New Zealand lost six wickets for 54 runs on Monday morning under a brief and final barrage from Steyn (3 for 48) and Morne Morkel (2 for 36).

Recalled seamer Rory Kleinvedlt and spinner Robin Peterson also had two wickets each in the second innings, and Jacques Kallis a crucial 1 for 18 to break the Watling-Brownlie partnership, as all South Africa’s bowlers found success against the fragile New Zealand batting lineup.

Likewise, South Africa’s batting was consistently too good for New Zealand’s bowlers as Faf du Plessis (137), Hashim Amla (110) and Dean Elgar (103 not out) racked up centuries and skipper Smith and AB de Villiers made half-centuries in an imposing batting start for the Proteas.

South Africa’s one batting effort was still nearly 200 runs better than the two innings combined by New Zealand. “It was going to be tough playing the No. 1 team,” New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum said. “We’re well short of the mark where South Africa is at. We were exposed, but all credit to South Africa. They were phenomenal.”

BCCI revised India-Australia test series venuesThe venues for the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia have been revised with the opening Test of the four-match series scheduled to be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from February 22 to 26, BCCI said on Monday.

“As per the new programme, the first game of the four-Test series between India and Australia will now be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, from 22 February 2013 to 26 February 2013,” BCCI Secretary Sanjay Jagdale said in a release.

“The venue has staged some unforgettable encounters between the two nations, including the ‘tie’ in September 1986.”

Earlier, Delhi was scheduled to host the opening match of the series, followed by Mohali, Hyderabad and Chennai.

However, according to the revised schedule, the second match will be in Hyderabad, followed by Mohali and Delhi.

“The teams will then move to Hyderabad for the second Test, from 2 March 2013 to 6 March 2013. The action will subsequently shift to the north.

“Mohali will host the third Test from 14 March 2013 to 18 March, and Delhi the fourth, from 22 March 2013 to 26 March 2013. Delhi’s Ferozeshah Kotla Ground was the venue where the teams first played for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, in October 1996,” the release added.

The revised schedule of the Test matches is as follows:

First Test - MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai — Feb 22 to 26.

Second Test - Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad — March 2 to 6.

Third Test - PCA Stadium, Mohali — March 14 to 18.

Fourth Test - Ferozeshah Kotla Ground, Delhi — March 22 to 26.

South Africa vs New Zealand 2nd Test Post Match Presentation Port Elizabeth 2013

Posted: 14 Jan 2013 02:43 AM PST

Graeme Smith: ‘We have had to work hard to get to this position. I think the wins against NZ was professional and it was achieved with big margins. Barring some dropped chances in Cape Town, we were good as a team. A team is good if there are new players who contribute in any situation. Dean Elgar is a fighter and he bounced back well. Anytime you win as captain is enjoyable. This team has a good bunch of guys and I play more of a guidance role. We have a great management team and I am extremely proud to lead this team. There are some new faces in the ODI squad and we have to perform well.’

Steyn: ‘We got the ball to swing in Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. There was no Vernon Philander and that gave me more chances to take wickets. Kleinveldt and Peterson bowled very well and they grabbed their chances. I thought Morne Morkel was unlucky to not pick up a couple more wickets. I am trying to bowl quick all the time and I was bowling in a nice rhythm. If I can bowl quickly and pick wickets, it boosts the morale of the team. Jacques Kallis has the golden arm and his wicket of Brownlie was crucial. Everybody plays their part in the team. I am pretty happy with my five wicket haul but there are more Tests to be played.’

Dale Steyn is the MoM for his haul of 8/65 in this match, including 5/17 in the first innings.

Brendon McCullum: ‘It was a tough series against a No.1 side who are on top of the game. We have been well short of the mark. South Africa have been phenomenal in all departments. It is hard to put a finger on what went wrong. Our poor start in the first innings in both Tests put us on the back foot. When we came here, we wanted to perform well as a team. We are missing some key players but I am pleased with the attitude of some of the guys. We have been through some tough times and we hope to learn our lessons in the future. We are ready for the ODIs as this format is more to our liking. I hope that the new guys bring some enthusiasm to the team.’

Preview : India vs England, 2nd ODI, Kochi, 2013 #IndvsEng

Preview India vs England, 2nd ODI, Kochi, 2013Still smarting from their narrow nine-run defeat in the opening ODI match, a struggling India will have to work on their bowling frailties and inconsistent batting as they take on England in the second one-dayer on Tuesday with the pressure on the home team.

Nothing seems to be going right for MS Dhoni and his men as after their 1-2 series loss in the three-match ODI series against Pakistan, India again started on the wrong foot against England last Friday.

The Indians will have to give a serious thought to the team composition as another defeat may put immense pressure on the team and may make it very difficult to stage a comeback.

With the top order batsmen failing repeatedly, the team management may toy with the idea of bringing in Cheteswar Pujara though Dhoni is not keen to tamper with the composition of the team as yet.

In the first ODI, India’s bowling frailties were exposed as they conceded 38 runs in the last two overs, which cost them the match and the bowlers really have to sort out their problems of bowling at the death overs if the hosts have to bounce back tomorrow.

There is very little margin for error for bowlers on batting friendly conditions and unlike in the Pakistan series, conditions are not going favour the bowlers this time during the five-match one-day series against England.

India’s seam bowlers and spinners have lacked venom and it would be interesting how the hosts bowl at the Nehru stadium, which is also going to be a batting paradise.

In the spin department, Ravichandran Ashwin is very crucial for India but the off-spinner has not really been effectiveness so far. He used to control the game and take crucial wickets. But now, he is unable to bring in the required control and is becoming too predictable.

The English batsmen have come well prepared and any mistake by the Indian bowlers will be detrimental to the team’s cause.

During the Pakistan series, India were struggling to get a good start which had affected the teams’ results. But, in the last one-dayer, India got a decent start but the top-order failed to convert them even on a placid track at the newly built Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

Openers Gautam Gambhir and Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh came up with good scores but none of them could stay on for a longer time.

One of the major concern for India has been Virat Kohli’s lack of form. In the last five matches, he has not been able to bat to his potentials and India lost three of them. At number three, Kohli has a big role to play and he has to come good if India hope of coming back to winning ways.

Following their historic 2-1 victory over India in the Test series, the England side has returned for the one day series after Christmas and have an edge going into the second ODI.

England bowlers have shown tremendous resilience as even in difficult situations they never gave up. In the first ODI, the English bowlers were unperturbed and continued to attack even when Raina and Dhoni were scoring freely.

James Tredwell deceived the Indian batsmen with his well crafted off-spin and his figures of 4 for 44 – four out of India’s top five — set the foundation for England’s nine-run victory last Friday.

The pace trio of Jade Dernbach, Tim Bresnan and Steve Finn too have contributed well, sharing five wickets among them in the first ODI.

Their batting also have been rock solid in the first game as the top-order fired in unison to post a mammoth 325 and now an inspired England will look to push for another victory tomorrow.

Teams (probable):

India: Gautam Gambhir, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Ashok Dinda

England: Alastair Cook(c), Ian Bell, Kevin Pietersen, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan, Craig Kieswetter (wk), Samit Patel, Tim Bresnan, James Tredwell, Steven Finn, Jade Dernbach

Pakistan selectors under pressure to include Adnan Akmal for SA tour

Posted: 13 Jan 2013 11:15 PM PST

Pakistan selectors under pressure to include Adnan Akmal for SA tourPakistani selectors are under pressure from skipper Misbah-ul-Haq to include glovesman Adnan Akmal and an extra pacer in the touring squad for the Test series in South Africa.

Sources close to the selectors have said that there was no consensus between the national selection committee and Test captain Misbah.

“The biggest difference of opinion came over the selection of wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed from Karachi,” a source pointed out.

He said Misbah wanted Adnan, the younger brother of Kamran Akmal in the side, insisting that he (Adnan) had done well and been a regular member of the Test squad since 2010.

But the source said chief selector Iqbal Qasim and the other selectors felt that Sarfaraz who had topped the charts in the President’s Trophy tournament deserved to be given a proper chance and that he was a far more reliable batsman than Adnan.

The selectors dropped all three Akmal brothers for the Test series in South Africa. The source said there was also some dispute over the selection of middle-order batsman Faisal Iqbal and Misbah wanted a extra pace bowler for the tour.

“The selectors felt that four pacers and two specialist spinners were enough for three Test matches. They also pointed out to Misbah and Whatmore that on recent tours they had taken young and new players who had returned home without getting a chance to play any match,” the source said.

He said the selectors particularly mentioned the case of uncapped batsman Haris Sohail who has been on tours to Sri Lanka and India now without getting a match. They also felt that in the last ODI Misbah and Whatmore should have given a chance to reserve players since series has been won.

“There was some dispute and apparently the Chairman of the board Zaka Ashraf had to intervene after which the selectors took a stance and announced the 16-member squad,” another source said.

Australia vs Sri Lanka : Michael Clarke and Co back in the Australia ODI squad

Posted: 13 Jan 2013 10:46 PM PST

Australia vs Sri Lanka Michael Clarke and Co back in the Australia ODI squadSkipper Michael Clarke returned to the one-day squad to lead Australia after a thrashing by Sri Lanka and an ear-bashing over selection policy from former stars.

Quick bowlers Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Starc were also brought back in after being withdrawn as a precaution to protect niggling minor injuries.

Opener David Warner and keeper Matthew Wade completed the list of big guns coming back after a rest for the third and fourth one-dayers in Brisbane on Friday and Sydney on Sunday.

National selector John Inverarity also unveiled Moises Henriques as the latest newcomer to get his chance.

“Moises Henriques also comes into the squad as a genuine all-rounder whose bowling will be suited to conditions often found at the Gabba,” Iverarity said.

“Moises is a young man who has shown promise for some years with both the bat and the ball. This will be an opportunity for him to impress as we look for a good seam bowling all-rounder.”

The selection policy came in for stinging criticism Monday after a second-string side were dismissed for 170 leaving Sri Lanka to win at a canter by eight wickets with 59 balls remaining at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday night.

Phillip Hughes was the only member of the Test XI who played in Adelaide.

The tabloid Sydney Telegraph called the selectors “trigger happy”, adding “Australia’s controversial rotation policy appeared to affect the national team’s performance in last night’s defeat.”

Australia did put Sri Lanka to the sword in the opening match of the five-game series in Melbourne on Friday with a 107-run victory.

But coach Mickey Arthur sensed the mood after Sunday’s thrashing and went on the attack.

He said he was “sick and tired” of misinformation that Australia has a pace bowling rotation policy after using 10 quicks this southern summer.

“It’s either very naive or just a little bit stubborn that people don’t understand what we’re doing,” Arthur said.

“The example I have used is Black Caviar, when he goes and runs a horse race, if they don’t feel he’s 100 per cent right, they don’t release it.

“We have done that with our bowlers.

“We want to play our guys all the time, with the amount of cricket we play these days it’s impossible to keep the guys on the park every single game,” he said.

“The constant thought that sports scientists are picking the team is so far way off the mark it’s frightening.

“Whenever we make those decisions, we make those decisions with a lot of thought into how we are going to use that quick bowler and when we are going to use that quick bowler.”

Former fast bowler Geoff Lawson called Monday for Australia to field their best team, while Brett Lee has hit out at the rotation policy as cheapening the value of an Australia cap.

Former skipper Ian Chappell charged Cricket Australia with creating “more confusion than an algebra test”.

Steve Rixon will take over the head coach’s role in Brisbane while Arthur returns to South Africa to spend time with his family before flying back Saturday.

The final match in the ODI series takes place on January 23 in Hobart.

Australian 12-man squad named Monday for the third and fourth One-Day Internationals:

Australia: Michael Clarke (c), George Bailey, Xavier Doherty, Moises Henriques, Phillip Hughes, David Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Glenn Maxwell, Clint McKay, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade (wk), David Warner.
