Live Streams Australia vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI Brisbane 2013

Sri Lanka came back strongly in the second ODI to level the 5 match ODI series. Australia have rested there key players for the first two ODI. They won the first match quite convincingly and then lost the same way in 2nd ODI. So far the game is open for both the team and new ICC ODI rules have been creating problems for both the team. Australia have brought back their key players for rest of the ODI series, which means things will get tough for Sri Lanka from the 3rd ODI. Sri Lankan bowling was the major positive for the team in the last ODI and they will definitely need the same performance in the next ODIs as well.

Mahela Jayawardene unhappy with ICC new ODI rules #AusvsSL

Posted: 17 Jan 2013 03:30 AM PST

Mahela Jayawardene unhappy with ICC new ODI rulesSri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene called for an end to experimental fielding restrictions in one-day cricket, saying they discourage risk-taking.

On the eve of the third ODI against Australia, the veteran batsman said the new laws allowing a maximum of four fielders outside the circle from the 11th over to the 40th encouraged negative play.

“The spinners are being taken away from the game, to be honest,” he said.

“Most of the spinners are being very negative now. They are bowling overs aiming for fewer runs rather than trying to take wickets and use their variety,” Jayawardene said in Brisbane.

“Unless you are a top spinner and use a lot of variety, you can survive while the rest will struggle and be negative in their approach.”

The International Cricket Council is testing the restrictions over the next 12 months, as well as trialling a provision for two new white balls at either end and two bouncers per over.

Jayawardene, who has played 388 ODIs, said spinners were far more likely to bowl quicker and flatter rather than tossing the ball up to try to get a wicket because of the lack of extra fielders in the deep.

Sri Lanka, who won by eight wickets on Sunday in Adelaide, will give wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Chandimal a late fitness test before the day-night game at the Gabba.

Sri Lanka and Australia are all square 1-1 in the five-match series.

Pakistan to play ODI series against Scotland in May

Posted: 17 Jan 2013 03:07 AM PST

Pakistan to play ODI series against Scotland in MayScotland will host Pakistan for a two-match One-Day International (ODI) series in May this year, Cricket Scotland announced on Thursday.

According to International Cricket Council's (ICC) official website, the two fixtures are scheduled on May 17 and May 19 at the Citylets Grange, Edinburgh.

The two teams, hitherto, have clashed thrice, with the last tie played six years ago at the ICC 2007 T20 World Cup.

Captain of the Scottish national team, Gordon Drummond said, “These fixtures are a fantastic boost for Scottish cricket. We have the chance to qualify for two global ICC events in 2013, and now we find we also have the opportunity to play two top test nations with Australia also visiting for an ODI in September. These matches are particularly important for the development of the current squad.

"We are all really looking to welcoming the Pakistan team to Scotland once again, and these fixtures will undoubtedly build on the already strong ties between the Pakistani/Scots community.

"It’s a fantastic platform for us to show what we are capable of, as we did with victory against Bangladesh last year- these are the sort of matches that every Scottish squad member will want to be involved in.”

Cricket Scotland Chief Executive Roddy Smith too expressed delight over the scheduled series, saying that the Pakistan series will be vital for the development of the game in the country. He said, "We are delighted to have secured these two ODIs against Pakistan. Following the ICC’s additional investment in Cricket Scotland through their TAPP scheme, we committed to secure further matches against the Full Members.

"These games are vital to continue our progress and measure ourselves against the best in the world, and are integral to the on field improvements desired for by the ICC. We are very grateful to the Pakistan Cricket Board for their support in making these games happen.”

PCB refused to send Pakistan players for Bangladesh Premier League (BPL)

Posted: 16 Jan 2013 10:31 PM PST

PCB refused to send Pakistan players for Bangladesh Premier League (BPL)Bangladesh cricket chiefs said Wednesday that Pakistan had refused to release any of its players for a Twenty20 competition which begins this week after a planned bilateral series had to be scrapped.

Pakistan had been due to host Bangladesh for a Twenty20 game and a 50-over match in Lahore this month in what would have been its first home internationals since a deadly attack on the Sri Lankan team bus nearly four years ago.

But the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cancelled the tour, saying Pakistan was not safe for its players. According to a BCB spokesman, Pakistan has now responded by preventing any of its stars from competing in the Bangladesh Premier League which begins Thursday.

“The chief executive officer of PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) called our CEO today and informed him that they won’t allow Pakistani players to play in the BPL until we send our team to their country,” spokesman Jalal Yunus told AFP.

“We’ve now decided to host the event without Pakistani players,” he said, adding the BPL’s seven franchises would now find replacements for the 26 Pakistani players they bought in the auction last month.

The move represents a major blow for the second edition of the BPL since Pakistani cricketers have a big following in Bangladesh.

More than 50 Pakistani players took part in the auction for the second edition of BPL, with opening batsman Imran Nazir fetching $280,000.

Last year more than 20 Pakistani players took part in the inaugural edition, with all-rounder Shahid Afridi sold for the highest fee of $700,000.

No international matches have taken place in Pakistan since the militant attack on the Sri Lankan team bus that killed eight people in March 2009.

Spokesman Yunus said Bangladesh has not ruled out touring Pakistan in the coming months but wanted to reassess the security situation before sending a team.

Bangladesh was also due to tour Pakistan last April, but the tour was blocked by the Dhaka High Court on security grounds.

Anti-Pakistan sentiment still runs strong in Bangladesh, which was part of Pakistan until 1971 when it won independence after a nine-month war.
