India vs England 5th ODI Post Match Presentation Dharamsala 2013 #IndvsEng

MS Dhoni: ‘The series was as tight as we played in the Tests. Overall we should have won this game. We could have batted more sensibly. This is a young side and still learning. There are some new rules that we have to get used to, in the death overs in particular. It was a bad toss to lose. There was some swing for the fast bowlers. I think we were short by 25-30 runs at least. The bowlers did well under the conditions. Bhuvanesh can swing the ball both ways. Shami bowls at a good pace. Ishant was very good. He came in at first change but still kept things very tight. If you break down his spells you will see he bowled well. The problem of the all-rounder is solved to an extent with Jadeja doing well. We wish Irfan Pathan is also fully fit to add more firepower.’

Raina: ‘It’s been good. God has been really kind. I wanted to look and play till the last ball. We were 20-25 runs short at the end today but we’ve been good in this series overall. Whenever you bat at 6-7, you don’t get many chances. I got it in this series and I wanted to play straight and play well. We had a lot of team meetings, we worked on our fitness and that is the reason. We hope to do well against Australia too.’

Suresh Raina is the Man of the Series. He scored 4 half centuries in as many innings in the series.

Ian Bell: ‘The longer you stayed out there, the easier it got. Chasing 220 was good. The bowlers did a very good job upfront. It was a good toss to win. We wanted one of our top order at the end to get over the line. I’ve been up and down the order. I love opening the batting and hope to do it for a while now.’

Ian Bell is the Man of the Match for his unbeaten 113.

Alastair Cook: ‘It was a good win. It was an important toss to win. The bowlers did well. At 50/4 you put the opposition on the backfoot. We held our nerves in the chase. Ian Bell played a fantastic knock. The ball was doing a bit all through the day. With these new regulations, if you keep wickets in hand you should get there. We came here trying to win. It has been a fantastic three months. I’d like to thank the England fans and the Indians. They took good care of us. This is a fantastic place to lay cricket.’

5th ODI : England wins toss, opts to field vs India – Dharamsala 2013 #IndvsEng

Toss: England have won the toss and elected to field

Cook: ‘We’re going to have a bowl first. This is an incedible place to play cricket. We have not quite been our best in the last couple of games but we want to do better here. Woakes comes in for Dernbach.’

Dhoni: ‘The wicket looks very different. There is some green tinge and there could be help for the seamers. It is very difficult to make something as elaborate as this in the mountains. Credit to the local cricket association. We will not be playing a lot of ODIs in the near future. We need to work on our death bowling. I think the track will remain the same overall. No changes to our team.’

Pitch report: The pitch is a little damp but it is also flat and very hard. The seamers will get good bounce throughout the day and movement as well reckon Ravi Shastri and Paul Collingwood.
